FOCUS Museologists with Wooden Spoon 2003 Open-Air Museum, Szentendre 26 May 2003 On 26 May the 4th National Museologists with Stirring Spoons Day was organised by the Open-Air Museum in Szentendre with the participation of more than thousand muesologists under the theme: Museums and Wooden Spoons. What else can do 1,000 museologists contributing to museums and to each-other as a happy day with historical foods? Who became the winners? Who has got the Golden, the Silver and the Bronze Stirring Spoon? Prizes of Museums in 2003 The European Museum of the Year Prize Mr Tamás Vásárhelyi’s summary can be read about the European Museum of the Year Prize. The winner is the Victoria & Albert Museum (London). Among others, the Duna Museum-Environmental Museum Esztergom (Hungary) was given a special prize. NEW TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS BUDAPEST Franciart Fashion from Paris in Budapest between 1750-2000 Budapest Historical Museum - Buda Castle It can be visited until 28 September 2003. Within the frame of the Franciart a joint exhibition was organised in Budapest. On display are costumes, dresses and pictures from the collections of Musée Galliera, Musée Historique du Paris, Budapest Historical Museum, the Hungarian National Gallery, the Hungarian National Museum. Organisations: Institut Francis Budapest, the city council of Paris and Budapest, l'AFA, the Ministry of the Hungarian National Cultural Heritage. Prehistoric Professions Museum of Ethnography Open from 22 May until 14 September 2003 The expression prehistoric professions originates from Prof. Ottó Herman ethnologist, who documented the fishing and pastoring in the Hungarian Great Plain in the 19th century. On display are these documents: drawings, graphics and paintings from the collection of the Museum of Ethnography. More information: http://www.neprajz.hu CSONGRÁD Hungary and Transylvania on Historical Maps Tari László Museum 10 May - 30 September 2003 On display are the historical maps from Mr Lajos Szántai’s private collection. He was bom in Csongrád, emigrated to France in 1957 and he collected the maps of Ortelius, Mercator, Blaeu, Visscher, de Witt and Dankerts, Homann, Coronelli and many others. Curators: Zoltán Sümeghy, János Unger (JATE University). SZOMBATHELY Textile - Triannual Szombathely Art Gallery 26 June - 31 August 2003 The international and national announcement highlighted five categories: Wall-textiles and Carpets, Applied Textiles, Trips, Flags and Miniature Textiles. On display are more than 220 objects. GYŐR The Textile Designers of Győr Váczy Péter Collection 2 May - 6 July 2003 On display are the works of seven artists, who are working as designers in the famous textile factories in Győr. These factories are as follows: the Graboplast, Uniontext, Pannon-Flax and Gardénia. Participants of the exhibition: Ms Mária Molnár, Ms Melinda Kustán, Mrs Fehérné-Kamilla Markó, Ms Anita Péntek, Mr Péter Müller. KECSKEMÉT Artistic Anathomy of the Horse - András Szunyoghy Works Kecskemét Art Gallery Open from 15 May 2003. BUDAPEST The Horse Beauty and the Art of Glass BALI - István Balázs glass artist's exhibition Hungarian Museum of Agriculture 23 May - 18 June 2003 MUSEUMS ON THE INTERNET ETN - European Textile Network http://www.etn-net.org Culture 2000 ETN (Hannover) is co-ordinating an Education and Research project which is supported by The European Union's Culture 2000 programme. The highlighted theme is the scope of virtual industrial heritage routes focusing on the textile heritage. Participants of this project are Germany, Spain, Italy (EU-members), the Check Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia (would-be EU-members) and Serbia, Georgia (non EU members). The co-ordinator of the Hungarian part is the Archaeocomp Association. The Hungarian route consists of ten sites: the Textile History Museum (Budapest-Óbuda), the Museum of Ethnography (Budapest), the Hungarian National Museum (Budapest), the City Museum (Gödöllő), the Art Colony (Gödöllő), the Laczkó Dezső Museum (Veszprém), the Blue Print Museum (Pápa), the Déri Museum (Debrecen) and the City Museum of Vásárosnamény. The final workshop was in Prato, Museo Tessuto (Italy) between 27-31 March 2003, the end of the project will be in July. MUSEUMSAND COLLECTIONS Golden Coins from Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County You can read a summary about the new acquisitions of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Museum in 2002. The real surprise was two hoards of golden coins from Ujfehértó and Kisléta. Professionals say thanks to the respectable rewarded finders, (pp. 195-196.) RESTORATION- CONSERVATION Save the Past for the Future!- Selection from the Works of Restorers Pécel, Ráday Castle 14 June-13 July 2003 A poster-exhibition will be opened in mid-June in a historical monument, in the Ráday Castle, which is an ideal surrounding not far from Budapest. Curator: Ms Katalin T. Bruder, restorer (the Hungarian National Museum). The temporary exhibition was supported by MAOE and MAG. INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS Museums without Borders - Art in Context International Cultural Project - New Exhibitions Concept of the Museums and Landscapes.
