No. 51.937 Photo: András Rázsó FOCUS BUDAPEST Andrea del Verrocchio's Statue of the Man of Sorrows Museum of Fine Arts 13 March - 22 June 2003 In this issue we publish Mr Zsombor Jékely's summary (as a supplement of Museum Newsletter) about the his­tory of the Verrocchio's works in the Museum of Fine Arts, its restorations and the results of the new investiga­tions. On display are more than 20 objects, paintings and statues from Verrocchio's circle. The precious piece is Verrocchio’s Christ from London, Victoria & Albert Museum, that is the best analogue of Christ statue pre­served in Budapest. The chamber ex­hibition is a good surprise to the visi­tors during Easter. NEW TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS BUDAPEST 100,h Anniversary of János Neumann's Birth - Milestones in the Computer Technology Natural History Museum 27 March - 30 September 2003 The joint exhibition of the National Technical Museum, the Neumann János Association, the Foundation of the History of the Hungarian Infor­matics and the Natural History Mu­seum presents the 234 years long history of the Hungarian informatics. On display are the documentation of János Neumann's life, the cyberneti­­cal and informatical development of Hungary and the relics of the Hun­garian computer technology. From Leonardo until Tintoretto -Sixteenth-Century Northern Italian Drawings Museum of Fine Arts 13 March-29 June 2003 This exhibition, presenting sixty-four sixteenth-century Northern Italian drawings, is the second in a series of two dedicated to Italian Renaissance drawings preserved in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, offering a selection based on quality and re­flecting its internal proportions by showing altogether about one-fifth of the material arranged according to the chronology of historical develop­ment. Although the more than six hundred Italian Renaissance draw­ings at the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts cannot compete in quantity and quality with the material in the great­est drawing collection of the world, but it still forms a notable group of works from fifteenth and especially sixteenth-century Italian art. In the recent exhibition on display are the works of Leonardo, Tintoretto, Cara­vaggio, Campagniola, Parmigianino and many others. Art Colony in Százados út Budapest History Museum Open 20 March - 5 May 2003 On display are a selection from the Archive of Budapest-City and 2-3 precious pieces from the works of the members of Art Colony. It means more than 200 objects of a long pe­riod, from 1911 until today. The joint exhibition can be visited in the Buda­pest History Museum (Buda Castle). Adventure of the Vision - Sándor Hollán (Paris) Budapest Kiscelli Museum - Szentendre, Art Gallery Open till 23 May 2003 The joint temporary exhibition of Bu­dapest History Museum-Kiscelli Mu­seum, Institue of French Culture in Budapest (FranciArt), Szentendre Art Gallery can be visited in three differ­ent places in Szentendre and Buda­pest. On display are landscapes, trees, drawings and books planned by him. SZENTES Life in Szentes - Acquisitions of the Ethnographic Collection of the Koszta József Museum It can be visited until 19 April 2003. NEW PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS Veszprém, Laczkó Dezső Museum The 100 years old Veszprém, Laczkó Dezső Museum organised a jubilee exhibition entitled "Let Us to the Subject!”. The most important event was the memorial feast of Dezső Laczkó, the first director of the mu­seum and the opening ceremony of the hosted temporary exhibition of the Székely National Museum (Ro­mania). Csongrád, Tari László Museum History and Life in Csongrád - 3rd Part You can read a summary written by the director Ms Judit Szücs ethnog­raphist about the recently opened ethnographical and historical exhibi­tion. PUBLIC RELATIONS Museums Day 17-18 May 2003 In this issue we publish the announce­ment of the Museums Day - Garden Party of the Museums which will be held in the Hungarian National Mu­seum. This festival will be supported by ICOM, highlighting the main as­pect in this year - Museums and their Friends. INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS Warsawa - Debrecen Exhibition from the Period of the Hungarian Conquest You can read a report about the joint exhibition organised by the Déri Mu­seum Debrecen, the Hungarian Cul­tural Institute in Warsawa, the Ar­chaeological Museum Krakow and Archaeological Museum in Warsawa.
