was a contributor to the increased numbers. We held our traditional Midsummer Night’s Festival at Hollókő, and this year we were joined by staff members from the Hungarian Postal Service’s East Hungary Bureau, who were attending a management training course. Thus, the number of guests was significantly higher than in past years. Once again, in 2007 the Stamp Museum performed superbly in the area of museum pedagogy. In both June and August it organized two-week day camps where young philatelists could learn all about stamps. We used a grant from the Hungarian Postal Service, won through a competitive bidding process, to cover the costs. The Hunfila 2007 International Stamp Exhibit offered the youngsters the opportunity to expand their stamp collection knowledge-levels, and on September 29, we held a contest for them, giving them the chance to show what they had learned. The Stamp Museum continued its series of museum conversations, held on the third Saturday of each month, which served mainly to deepen contacts between the museum and the philatelists. Visitors in numbers The number of people visiting our museums and exhibition sites increased slightly this past year. The overall number was 201 685 persons, a 15 percent growth. We were very pleased with this growth, for it contributed to the roughly 55 percent increase in our financial inflow. We need to underline this, for the branch is not open all year round, but received visitors only between May and November. Based on the above, I believe that on the whole, 2007 was a successful and gratifying year. Budapest, March 18, 2008 Mrs. Béla Vichmann Business report of the Communications Museum Foundation for 2007 The balance sheet for the Communications Museum Foundation showed a surplus of 19 250 658 forints, since our operation costs were 13 728 000 forints lower than anticipated. One component of this was austerity in our spending, while another was that certain tasks scheduled for 2007 remained unfinished, with payment postponed until 2008. In addition to the 150 000 000 forints pledged by Magyar Telekom, the 25 098 000 forints pledged by Antenna Hungária, and the 65 000 000 pledged by the Hungarian Postal Service, the latter granted us 2 500 000 forints in earmarked support to implement foundation projects. Our bids for grant monies were not particularly successful, for only 217
