Rövid tartalmi összefoglaló angol nyelven
• Research into anniversary events, focused particularly on publishing unknown documents on the history of the Postal Museum and documents from the archives of the Transport Museum. • Preparation of catalogues for the new permanent exhibits at the Stamp Museum and the Postal Museum of Balatonszemes. • Translations and reviews of the interesting articles appearing in foreign periodicals. Exhibitions The exhibitions are connected to the anniversary events and include two significant dates, Telecommunications and Museum World Day in May, and Postal World Day in October. The 100 years of postal packages exhibition at the Helikon Castle Museum in Keszthely will be in the stable where the coach collection is. Also on display will be the various types of coaches used by the Royal Hungarian Post Office until it ceased making deliveries in horse-drawn vehicles. It also will display the way packages were handled by the post office from 1860 to 1970. From coaches to mobile postal services is a new permanent exhibit at Balatonszemes, which will use telecommunications history as a framework to display vehicles used to deliver articles sent by post, including several that are specifically Hungarian. It will include a scale model of a cross between a coach and a wagon and the historical documents for the Csonka-designed postal car. This exhibit will be interactive and multilingual. Universal Stamp History is the title of a new permanent exhibition planned by the Stamp Museum. The universal material that goes on display covers events up to 1997. A good deal is Hungarian material. The presentation will include several valuable printing-tools. Stamp designs will go on show in temporary exhibits called: The motto is masterpieces. The 100-year-old Csonka-designed postal vehicle exhibit depends on when the exhibition hall at the János Csonka Museum, built in Budapest on Bartók Béla Avenue, becomes ready to receive it. In other words, it depends on the financial support of Budapest’s District 11 government. Postal memorabilia from World War / is an itinerant exhibit. The materials come from the military camp postcard collection of the Postal Museum and the stamps and letters dating from 1914 to 1919 at the Stamp Museum. The Communication Museum Foundation is 15 years old, is an itinerant exhibition which will include 2005 anniversaries. Public relations and programmes Anniversary commemorations and programmes through 2005 offer regular opportunities for meetings between the museum and its visitors that go beyond exhibition viewing and are more informal. With the opening of the exhibition at the Helikon Castle Museum in Keszthely in the spring, the number of Foundation exhibition sites increases to 15 and the number around Lake Balaton grows to three. As a natural outcome, the museum began advertising an excursion programme called Postal Museums around Lake Balaton in professional journals. This programme includes visits to displays at Nagyvázsony, Keszthely, and Balaton329
