Public relations and programmes As professional institutions, the museums are host to numerous professional programmes. The auditorium of the Postal Museum houses a number of scientific conferences, regular club events, and public lectures on museum collections that include slide-shows. As the institute which forms the gateway to Andrássy Boulevard - World Heritage Site it also serves as venue for several events organised by the district mayor’s office. In 2004 a total of 25 000 people attended 55 professional events. With support from a grant won for e-World digital content and culture offered by the Ministry for Information Technology and Telecommunications, the Postal Museum took a virtual exhibition of the Museum of Telephony called From Noise Barrier to World- WideWeb and a collection of 5500 photographs from the photo archives and put them on its website, which it updated and upgraded at the same time. The website www.postamuzeum.hu was ceremoniously unveiled by Administrative State Secretary Mihály Jambrik on April 6. Guests of the founders and of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications from abroad often visited the Stamp Museum. The museum also participates in various programmes set into bilateral agreements by designing exhibitions to take abroad. In addition, it is the venue from which stamps are ceremoniously issued several times a year, Mafitt regularly meets here, and the museum has established a circle of young friends of philatelic pastimes which meets there fortnightly. 326
