Rövid tartalmi összefoglaló angol nyelven

• We organised an exhibition of the life’s work of Ferenc Swind. • We organised a display of postal uniforms at the Textile Museum. • We organised a series of virtual exhibitions including:- A half-century of television in Hungary,- Lithographed and engraved stamps from 1871,- Information from World War I as reflected by camp postcards sent by troops. Contacts with the public In addition to holding our regular and traditional programmes including World Days and our annual Midsummer’s Day excursion of Hollókő, we have offered our museums as venues for professional associations. Users have included the Scientific Society for Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Scientific Association for Hungarian Philatelies, and others as well as local district governments. A series of lectures is being held at the Postal Museum to present European world heritages. It is also hosting a series of programmes called Andrássy Boulevard - a World Heritage Site, and programmes sponsored by the Andrássy Society and the Saxlehner Association. Monthly programmes, excepting during summer, are being organised for the Museum Assent Association, the circle of friends of the two museums, primarily consisting of visits to smaller specialist museums in Budapest, such as the Museum of Hungarian Electrotechnology, the Róth Miksa Memorial Museum, and the Milling Industry Museum. If the foundation is successful in its bid for support for the virtual exhibitions it is planning, it will organise get-togethers with other institutions that have related exhibitions and with private collectors. We will organise thematic programmes for students linked to school subjects, based on the new series of exhibitions at the Stamp Museum. It tends rather to focus on carefully prepared, multi-phased renovation projects (renovating the electrical system at the Stamp Museum, upgrading the heating system at the Postal Museum, etc.). When improving equipment and tools, it was most often assisted by competitive grants, which means that these projects did not require a huge amount of funding from our budget. The museums and exhibition sites of the Foundation are in good overall condition. However, the walls and woodwork could do with a painting and the bathroom facilities in the auditoriums of the Stamp Museum and the Postal Museum need to be upgraded. At the same time, the Postal Museum at Balatonszemes is a bit dishevelled. The garage there was built in the 1960s and needs an overhaul. The courtyard is covered with pebbles, the flowerpots are made of concrete, the benches are of crude iron, and the evergreens are sick, presenting an image of debilitation rather than archaic beauty at a heavily visited exhibition site. However, physical appearance is a minute problem compared to the fact that there is no roof over the mobile post office freight car that dates from the 322
