CANON LAW HANDBOOK BY IVO OF CHARTRES 99 II. Supplementary material at the end of Ivo’s collections Until now, we have been speaking about some supplements which are included among the canonical material of several books oflvo’s works. But there is a significant group of canons at the end of the Decretum and the Panormia. These supplements can shed light on the fundamental employment field of the particular textual witnesses of the Ivonian collections. If we open the edition oflvo’s works which was put together by Jacques-Paul Migne’s team,32 we can find at the end of Book 8 of the Panormia 18 canons under the title: “Qui libri, et quo tempore sint legendi, in ecclesia”, which do not belong structurally and thematically to the collection.33 These canons are not be found in any version of the Decretum, and they are scattered through different places in the Decretum Gratiani,34 The introductory canon (IP 8. 137) does not have any attribution, but its condition supports the daily usage of this form. It is a reference — work of the most important ecclesiastical feasts in the form of a liturgical calendar. There is not any reason to take up this theme immediately before simony (IP 8.13 8),35 ex- communication (IP 8. 139, 141 )36 or the clerical obligation regarding the wearing of their distinctive dress (cf. IP 8. 140),37 supplemented with an admonition 32PL 161. 1340-1344. 33 IP 8. 137-154. 34Cf.
