STUDIES - W. Becket Soule: Hermits in Current Eastern Catholic Legislation; CCEO cc. 481-485
HERMITS IN CURRENT EASTERN CATHOLIC LEGISLATION 161 ways entail solitude. Life led in monasteries is separate, but communal, and monks accompany and support each other in many ways. In the eremitical life, the hennit undertakes a lifestyle in which he lives alone. Yet the entire ecclesial community can be affected by the witness of the hermit, and in this the true mutual relation between the Church and the hermit is visible, requiring the utmost fidelity and vigilance on the part of both, so that the hermit may truly live a life worthy of this calling.
