In some studs of our country medicaments like Neguvon (Bayer), Rlntal Plus (Bayer) and Equigard (Shell) had been investigated under experimental conditions but the results of these experiments were not published. In 1985 and 1986 we compared the effectiveness of some medicines under experimental conditions in studs infested by G. Intestinalis showing intensive egg-laying. During the last years different authors published some results about the effectiveness of drugs containing both trichlorfon and Ivermectin. These medicaments seemed to be so effective that we decided to use a medicament containing similar active Ingredients for treating gasterophilosis (1,2,4,7,8). The purposes of our investigations were: (1) to compare two medicaments on the basis of excreting the botfly larvae via the excrement (faeces) of experimental horses. (2) to elaborate a perfect method for evaluating the larvicidal effectiveness of the medicaments.
