had been a postgraduate student of Professor KOTLÁN. The Commemoration Medal of the HSP was awarded to Dr. Mária JANKÓ, head of the Department of Parasitology of the Institute of Public Health (Budapest) and to Dr. István VARGA, reader of the Department of General Zoology and Parasitology of the University of Veterinary Science (Budapest) for their considerable research and teaching work as well as for their valuable contribution to the HSP activities. Dr. Emilian OSSIKOVSKI, head of the Department of Biochemistry of the Central Helminthological Laboratory of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia) was also awarded the Medal of the HSP. The morning session continued by two invited plenary lectures, J. C. BORAY: "Trematodoses of ruminants and their control in Australia" and G. PIEKARSKI (Bonn, FRG): "AIDS and opportunistic parasitic infections". Then a statue of S. KOTLÁN sculptured by Richárd TÖRÖK in the style of the ancient Greek portraits was erected in the park of the University of Veterinary Science. It was unveiled by F. KOVÁCS vice-chancellor, after the inauguration address by Professor T. KASSAI. On the second day of the memorial session the following lectures were delivered: MEUWISSEN, J.H.E.Th.
