(anteromedial) is the dorsal anchor, while the paired and well developed anchors (posterolateral) are the ventral anchors. The use of structural differences between anchors to differentiate species seems justified in that the main differences are found in the shape and sizes of the anchors, while the copulatory organ remains relatively homogenous in all the 9 presently described Trianchoratus species.
