DISCUSSION Of the eleven species of nematodes collected in the Vojvodina, nine - Heligmosomoides lae vis, H. p. polygyrus, H. travassosi , Syphacia nigeriana, S. agraria, S. stroma , S. frede- rici, Aspiculuris tetraptera and Capillaria annulosa - are new to the fauna of Yugoslavia. The distribution and host specificity of the reported nematodes species are fairly well known. The works of DURETTE-DESSET (1971), GENOV and JANŐEV (1981) for the Heligmosomoi des species; TENORA and MÉSZÁROS (1975), GENOV and JANC*EV (1980) for the Syphacia species are relevant here. These nematodes are the most common species of the rodents collected in this work. The relatively large number of species new to the fauna of Yugoslavia is due undoubtedly to the lack of previous studies.
