Apart from discussion of the theoretical principles of both general and systematic parasitology, emphasis is laid on the practical epidemiological aspects of the parasitoses. One chapter, "Immune-biological phenomena in parasitic infections" was written by Mária JANKŐ, whereas Anna LENGYEL prepared the chapter on "Chemoterapy of parasitic diseases". An appendix containing tropical parasitic diseases supplements the volume. . LENGYEL (general and systematic parasitology - 44 pp., illustrated with 27 figures). The systematic position of the Protozoons and metazoons important from the human parasitological points of view, and the most frequently applied immunological methods in the treatment of parasitological diseases are summarized in tables. After treating general parasitology, in agreement with the general concept of the volume the parasites are discussed not in systematical order, but rather according to the site of settlement and parasitosis. This mode of discussion with emphasis on the clinical and epidemiological aspects will hopefully enable parasitology to become integrated with the general framework of medical knowledge.
