Trombiculid larvae (Acari) new to the Hungarian fauna* Dr. Jan KOVÁCIK Institute of Experimental Biology and Ecology, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Research Station Staré Hory, Czechoslovakia "Trombiculid larvae (Acari) new to the Hungarian fauna" - Kováiíik, J. - Parasit, hung. 14: 99-101.1981-82. ABSTRACT. Larval stages of three species of Trombiculidae are reported from smal mammals of the nature reserve Kisbalaton (W.Hungary). All three species are new to the Hungarian fauna. The trombiculid fauna of Hungary is listed in only one report by HAIT LINGER (1979). The author listed five parasitic species living on small mammals. In the cause of a cooperation programme between the Hungarian Natural History Museum and the Slovak Academy of Sciences, we captured small mammals and collected their ectoparasites in the nature reserve Kisbalaton (West-Hungary) during 23rd to 26th, March, 1982. Having determined the collected ectoparasites, we to have identified three species of Trombiculidae larvae new to the Hungarian fauna. COLLECTION DATA Neotrombicula vulgaris Schluger, 1955 Hosts: Clethrionomys glareolus, Microtus agrestis. Locality: Kisbalaton, 23-26 March, 1982. Extensity and intensity of infestation: C. glareolus 6.8%, 2 specimens; M. agrestis 4.4%, 1 specimen. N. vulgaris has, unlike to N. japonica. 8 setae in the first order on the dorsal side and the galeal seta is naked (Fig. 1). Distribution: European part of the USSR, Caucasus, Tadjikistan, Iran, Czechoslovakia. Report No. 3 from the project "Complex parasitological studies on small mammal populations", a cooperation between the Department of Zoology, Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, and the Institute of Experimental Biology and Ecology, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Research Station Staré Hory.
