Dr. Kassai Tibor - Dr. Murai Éva szerk.: Parasitologia Hungarica 10. (Budapest, 1977)

To sum up, there does not appear presently any conclusive evidence to show the occurrence of P. cervi in Egypt. Paramphistomum gotoi Fukui, 1922 This species was only found in buffalo slaughtered in abattoir in Alexandria; seven per cent of the examined animals were infected. The species has an Asian distribution, in Egypt it was revealed recently (SEY, 1976). Although P. gotoi shows close similarity to P. cervi, its rare occurrence makes it questionable that the previously mentioned authors might have come across with this species. Carmyerius gregarius (Looss, 1896) Of the buffaloes examined in the abattoir in Alexandria 2 5 per cent were infected. As this species is the only representative of this genus in Egypt, living specimens are easily recognizable by their brownish-red colour. Key to species of rumen flukes occurring in Egypt: 1) Ventral .pouch present Carmyerius gregarius 2) Ventral pouch absent a) Pharynx Calicophoron, genital atrium Microbothrium types Paramphistomum microbothrium b) Pharynx Liorchis , genital atrium Gracile types Paramphistomum gotoi Heavily infected rumina were frequently seen especially in the cattle with necrosis and destruction of ruminai papillae at the sites of worms. Considering the high incidence of amphistom es in domestic ruminants in Egypt, more attention should be given to the economic losses caused by these helminths among grazing stocks in the Middle-East area. Acknowledgements The author wishes to express his gratitude to Prof. G. TADROS (Parasitology Section, National Research Centre, Doukki, Cairo) and Prof. A. RHAGAB (Department of Parasitology, Al-Ahzar University, Cairo) for making the material available to this paper. SEY, 0.: Az egyiptomi kérődzőkben élősködő amphistomumok vizsgálata (Trematoda: Paramphistomata) A dolgozat a bendőmételyek három fajának, a Paramphistomum gotoi Fukui, 1922, a P. mic robothrium Fischoeder, 1901 és a Carmyerius gregarius (Looss, 1896) az egyiptomi kérődzőkben való előfordulását állapítja meg, A P. microbothrium valamennyi vizsgált kérődző fajban (Bubalus bubalis, Bos taurus, Ovis aries, Camelus dromedarius, Capra hircus, Capra nubiana) megtalálható volt, a P. gotoi és a C. gregarius csak a bivalyban fordult elő. A rendelkezésünkre álló nagyszámú vizsgálati anyagból a P. cervi nem került elő, ezért valószínűtlennek látszik e faj egyiptomi előfordulása. A korábban ebből az országból ezen a néven említett bendőmétely a P. microbothriummal tekinthető azonosnak. 4!J
