Raum ist durchaus zu vermeiden. Bei der Einstellung von neuen Rattenzuchten ist darauf zu achten, dass nur von wurmfreien Beständen stammende Zuchttiere gekauft werden. Wenn in einem Rattenbestand eine Infektion auftritt, erfordert es sich neben Anwendung einer Ditrifon-Therapie strenge Hygienemassnahmen zu treffen, um die Infektion graduell herabzusetzen, und zu bekämpfen. A fertőzöttség a legtöbb esetben enyhe (a nőstények átlagszáma 3) volt. Ismertetik a féreg morfológiai és biológiai sajátosságait. A hazai triklórfon ("Ditrifon" Chinoin) 0, 5 %-os koncentrációban 3 napon át ivóvízben alkalmazva a fertőzött patkányok 80 %-át megszabadította a férgektől.
