Dr. Kassai Tibor - Dr. Murai Éva szerk.: Parasitologia Hungarica 7. (Budapest, 1974)

rastruktárájának jobb megismerésére vezető újabb kutatási eredményeket is ismerteti a könyv és nem hiányoznak mindezek mellett az immunbiológiai, ökológiai és fejlődéstani vonatkozásokban végzett vizsgálatok legújabb megállapításai sem. Állatorvosok, orvosok és zoológusok számára készült a mű. Hardly five years after the first edition the revised and significantly enlarged second edition has been launched by the publishers. The new edition has been justified since the first one - owing to our rapidly growing knowledge has become more or less out-of-date, and it has been sold out . Just like in the first edition host animals and their coccidia are enumerated in zoological order. Individual species are discussed briefly, however , with the desired fullnes. Text is furnished by 224 illustrations. The general part of the first edition has been omitted from the second one in order to gain some space for the exhausting describing part and because of recent publication of works devoted to the general questions of coccidioses. It is to be noted, however, that while latest results of the field had been incorporated into the new edition, also certain fundamental aspects have not been disregarded. Beside the description of species, the presentation of the pathogenicity of coccidia has remained consequently stressed. This is of importance especially in the case of our livestock and wild animals . The book provides ample theoretical and practical hints for the prevention and therapy of the disease required by the veterinary practitioner. Recent results on the ultrastructure of coccidia are also given, as well as the latest findings of investigations of immunobiological , ecological and developmental relationships. The book is meant for veterinarians, physicians and zoologists . KÁVAI, A. 202
