Hung. 7. 197-200. 1974. ABSTRACT. A Pygmephorus material collected on specimens of Geomys bursarius illmoensis and G. bursarius missouriensis in Illinois and Missouri, USA, was found to represent four species, one of them new to science. No host specificity could be established, indeed Geomys bursarius proved to be a new host for the already known mite species . Dr. E.J. SPICKA investigated in Illinois and Missouri the range and habits of the subspecies of Geomys bursarius, and collected also the mites occurring on these rodents. Specimens of Pygmephorus species were found, and the material was sent to me for identification . The 14 slides contained individuals representing 4 Pygmephorus species; of these I found three of my own species described previously, and one new to science. No host specificity could be established, but Geomys bursarius was found to be a new host of the "three already known species.
