The Occurrence of Nasal Throat Bot Flies (Oestridae) in Wild Ruminants in Hungary Dr. László SUGÁR Research Institute of Game Biology, Budapest "The Occurrence of Nasal Throat Bot Plies (Oestridae) in Wild Ruminants in Hungary" - Sugár, L. - Parasit. Hung. 7. 181-190. 1974. ABSTRACT. Results of the examination in Hungary of 120 wild ruminants (57 red deers, 52 fallow deers, 9 deers and 2 moufflons) for the occurrence of nasal throat bot fly larvae are presented. The incidence of Cephenemyia auribarbis Meigen, 1824, C. stimulator Clark, 1815 and the larvae of Pharyngomyia picta Meigen, 1824, are reported for the first time from Hungary. The moufflon proved to be a new host of Ph. picta . Larvae of C. auribarbis and Ph. picta were found in 90*5 and 5*7 % of red deers and in 81*0 and 13*4 % of fallow deers, respectively. During recent game-biological and meat hygienic examinations I have often found nasal throat bot fly larvae in wild ruminants. Since our knowledge on nasal throat bot fly larvae occurring in the wild ruminants of Hungary is rather inadequate (THALHAMMER, 1899), it appeared useful to report the results of my related examinations . Material and Methods The animals - with the exception of a few - were all shot on huntings. The following animals were examined between 1 July, 1973 and 28 February, 1974: 57 red deers (Cervus elaphus) of which 55 come from the Budakeszi forestry (Telki Állami Erdőés Vadgazdaság, comitat Pest), 52 fallow deers (Dama dama) all
