Review of Tapeworms in Microtinae from Hungary Dr. Éva MURAI Zoological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest "Review of Taoeworms in Microtinae from Hungary" - Murai, É. - Parasit / Hung . 7. 111-142.1974. ABSTRACT. Prom 570 vole specimens (belonging to 7 species of Microtinae) 15 tapeworm species (7 in adult and 8 in larval form) were recorded in Hungary. Clethrionomys glareolus, Microtus arvalis, M. agrestis, M. oeconomus, Pitymys subterraneus and Ondatra zibethica were found to harbour 13, 10, 4, 1, 7 and 2 species of tapeworms, respectively. No tapeworms have been demonstrated from Arvicola terrestris. Adults of Catenotaenia cricetorum , Paranoplo- cephala brevis, Andrya sp . , A prostatandrya macrocephala , Hymenolepis horrida , H. asymmetrica and the larval form of Taenia crassiceps are usually found in voles only. Skr ,1a- binotaenia lobata occurs only in voles living in close community with Apodemus species. The larvae of other Taeniid species and the Tetrathyridium of Mesocestoides have a wider range of hosts in rodents. Vole helminths from Hungary were heretofore studied by SEY (1965), EDELÉNYI (1965, 1966), and TENORA (1967), publishing 9 fluke, 4 cestode, 2 nematode and 1 acanthocephalan species collected from our home voles. In the course of the study of the Collection of Cestodes of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, during a revision of the Hymenolepis species two more species were found (TENORA and MURAI, 1972; MURAI and TENORA, 1973b), while a revision of the Taeniidae revealed the presence of 5 additional tapeworms in Microtinae (MURAI and TENORA, 1973a). The present paper submits a faunistical survey of the tapeworms parasitizing Microtinae species. Ill
