Parke Co., 24 Sept., 1970. Blarina brevicauda (Say). (6258). Ho­lotype and 1 paratype in USNM; 1 paratype in HNHM; 1 paratype in MHNG . Remarks. - Owing to its dorsal chaetotaxy, the species cannot be brought into relationship with any one of its congeners. Pygmephorus scalopi sp . n. Measurements. - Length: 156-171 u, breadth: 83-92 u. Habitus: Body surface weakly punctate. Dorsal side (Pig. 19): Among dorsal hairs only seta e 2 spinosely incrassate, smooth, all others (with proportions as given in Pig. 19) gradually attenuating and ciliate; hair f.^ longest of all. Both three pairs of setae of segment H well discernibly ciliate, hair h^ longer than the two closely adjacent inner pairs . Ventral side (Pig. 21): All hairs originating in sternal region ciliate, seta lc slightly incrassate, seta 2a shorter than all others; hairs 3a and 3b separated at equal distances. Legs: Tibiotarsus of leg I (Pig. 20) with solenidia CJ , and üJ 2 thin, not incrassate. All three femoral hairs of leg II (Pigs. 22-23) thin and only weakly ciliate. Leg IV (Pig. 24) with hair lv" T well discernibly ciliate, thus only three smooth. Spini­form hairs left. Hair lVn' Tr of trochanter unusually small,but its base characteristically widened.
