Data concerning species of this genus were heretofore known only from the Palaearctic region, and this is the first time that they have been found in the Nearctic; it was proved therefore, that, similarly to several other genera, the Tarsonemid taxa - as regards the supraspecific categories - are very widely distributed. The "multi-host" character of the majority of these species was also substantiated by the present study, since none of the species was found to occur on merely one small mammal host species . I am greatly obliged to the collector of the material for his kind sending of the specimens to the Hungarian Hatural History Museum . Pygmephorus designatus sp . n .
