Hung. 6. 215-238. 1973. The Mallophaga fauna of 239 bird specimens representing to 63 species collected in South Hungary (Bácsalmás and its environment - com. Bács) were investigated by the author in the years 1968-1972. 133 specimens of 42 bird species were infested by Mallophaga. 2458 Mallophaga specimens representing to 57 species, 6 subspecies belonging to 32 genus and two families were determined. 15 species and 2 subspecies are new for the fauna of Hungary. The paper submits the intensity of the infections, and the sexual distribution of the Mallophaga specimens living on distinct body-surface of birds . Magyarország faunájából ezideig mintegy 220 tolltetü-fajt mutattak ki.Ez hazánk Mallophaga-faunájának feltehetően csak egyharmada. Korábban POHGRÁCZ (1914), KOHAUT (1918), KOPEK (1928), BÁLÁT és BREIER (1955), BÁLÁT (1957), SASVÁRISCHÄFER (1963, 1964) közöltek faunisztikai adatokat. A többi európai állam Mallophaga-faunájávai számos dolgozat foglalkozik. Jugoszlávia (BRELIH és TOVORHIK, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964), Csehszlovákia, Bulgária (BÁLÁT, 1955, 1958), Románia, (BECHET, I96I), Lengyelország (ZLOTORZYCKA, 1961), Hémet Demokratikus Köztársaság (EICHLER, 1954, KÉLER, I963 ), a Hémet Szövetségi Köztársaság (TIMMERMAHH, 1952, 1954), stb. faunalistái alapján hazánkban kb. 600 Mallophaga-faj előfordulásával számolhatunk .
