External, homogeneous layer (tegumen) of cortex 0.006-0.008 mm thick, below it a layer of large, glandular cells, 0.050-0.070 mm deep. Genital atrium infundibuliform, 0.020-0.030 mm deep, on body surface 0.030-0.050 mm in diameter, situated in anterior half of segment, nearer to border of anterior third than to middle. Genital pores irragularly alternate on both sides of strobila. Genital pore occasionally opens on surface of a small genital papilla, measuring 0.040x0.100 mm. Male reproductive systemj Testes 90-120 in number, situated in medullary parenchyma within a row of vitellary glands and above ovary in a homogeneous layer; dimensions depending on maturity 0.030-0.060x0.040-0.090 mm. Vas deferens a thinwalled tube with, a wide lumen, forming circular loops at inner end of cirrus pouch in younger segments, later surrounding cirrus pouch in numerous whorls: on entering cirrus pouch, it describes one or two whorls, forming a seminal vesicle with a diameter O.O4O mm, diameter of distal end 0.025-0.030 mm. The cirrus pouch is oval and extends to l/6-l/9th of segment; with a retracted cirrus 0.180-0.220 x 0.080-0.090 mm, with a protruding cirrus 0.1800.200 x 0.065-0.075 mm. Female reproductive system: Ovary bilobate, extending parallel with posterior margin segment the width of the medullary parenchyma, Ovarial lobes narrower in young segments, transversally bacilliform, in older segments elongating conically towards anterior end. Measurements relatively constant: in young segments 0.410x0.080 mm,in hermaphroditic segments 0.400x0.170-0.2 00 mm, in mature segments 0.440-0.560x0.180x0.200 mm, in old segments 0.260-0.270 x 0.220-0.320 mm. The vitellary glands (0.060-0.080 mm wide) form compact lateral bundles on both sides of segment, running the whole length of the segment. These bundles consist of minute follicles and extend a distance of 0.100-0.I60 mm within and parallel with the margin of the excretory duct.
