dorsal chaetotaxy would "be unique in either one of the two genera. Scutacarus wranoskyi sp.n. length: 182-206 width: 146-158 Dorsal side (Tig. 7): Clypeus large, margin wide. The two humeral pairs of setae straight, rigid, weakly ciliate. All other dorsal hairs resembling these former; setae dorsales longest, outer lumbal and sacral hairs shortest, of all. Inner lumbal, inner sacral, outer lumbal, and outer sacral hairs of equal length. All weakly ciliate. Ventral side (Pig. 8): Apodeme 2 hardly discernible - represented merely by a line consisting of interrupted arcuate sections-on anterior sternal plate. Setae coxales I internae more robust and longer than all other ones, their ciliation also considerable. Setae coxales II externae strikingly short and thin, not even half as long as their inner mates. Apodeme 4 comparatively long on posterior sternal plate. Praesternal hairs thin, relatively long, though not reaching insertional points of poststernal setae. Inner poststernal pair arising anteriorly to outer one, this latter very long, projecting far beyond posterior margin of body. Three pairs of caudal setae present, inner and intermediate pairs adjacent to each other, long (longer than inner sacral pair), strongly ciliate. Outer caudal pair removed, minute, smooth. Legs: Tibiotarsus of leg I (Pigs. 9-10) slightly incrassate.Hair tl considerably shorter than hair tj. Both solenidia GO small, solenidion essentially longer. Solenidion on tarsus of leg II (Pig. 11) minute, hair p modified into a robust spine. Leg III (Pig. 12) also similar in construction. Tibiotarsus of leg IV (Pig. 13) considerably elongated, thin, yet shorter than length of trochanter. Tibiotarsus emitting 7 hairs, hai 1 1
