Tests for susceptibility to insecticides in six districts using 8070 females of 17 strains of the house fly were carried out. The number of female flies used for susceptibility to DDT, Lindan, trichlorphon, diazinon, and malathion was 5405,1815,450,250 and 150, respectively. Tests with DDT were suitable to establish the susceptibility to this drug of the house fly populations in various regions of the country. It was established with the „glass vial test" proposed by the WHO, that 76,47 % of the populations proved tolerant or resistant and 23,53 susceptible to this compound, values of the populations tested varied between 0,04 and 4,0. Using the same testing method various levels of tolerance to Lindan were observed.Decreased susceptibility and resistance to both compounds can be due to the use for several years of these insecticides in public health and agricultural activities as well. The authors' data agree with those of other authors. Prom the experimental results It is concluded that due to a high proportion of DDT and Lindan resistant populations these compounds should not be used in the future for fly control, and this conclusion is supported also by the fact that these compounds show cumulation in human organisms.
