Host: all Soricid species Localisation: oesophagus, stomach Distribution: Europe Occurrence and hosts in Hungary: Orgovány - Sorex araneus (leg. EDELÉNYI and SZABÓ, 1963) Kis-Balaton - Neomys anomalus (leg. EDELÉNYI , 1965) Pákozd - Sorex araneus, date of collection: 8-12 October, 1966 Pákozd - Sorex minutus, date of collection: 8-12 October, 1966 Pákozd - Neomys anomalus, date of collection: 8-12 October, 1966 Bácsalmás - Sorex araneus, date of collection: 3 December, 1968 Cikolasziget (Com. Győr-Sopron) - Sorex araneus, date of collection: 9 September, 1969. On all occasions, hosts captured in coastal reeds were the infected ones. The specimens deposited in our collection agree with the earlier descriptions, hence I call attention only to the morphological variability of the species. The variability manifests itself in the shape of the body, the form, size, and position to each other of the testes (Table I). The contiguous or interrupted development of the vitellary glands should be carefully observed, since this feature appears as specific and generic characters in certain authors. We found some R. exasperatum specimens in which the vitellary glands are contiguous on one side and interrupted on the other (Table I, Pig.l). It also occurs exceptionally that the uterus extends to, or even projects slightly beyond, the distal margin of the posterior testis (Table I, Fig.2). It should be noted, however, that in such cases the testes show extremely small measurements.
