’God doesn’t punish you if you take care of them’

(Of a reformed woman who remained faithful to her belief)

The study of the legal historian author describes the practice of religion and volunteer social work of a Transdanubian reformed woman as well as introduces the unwritten laws of a village to the readers. Mrs Mária Nagy maiden name Mária Dávid was bom in Sárkeresztes next to Székesfehérvár, Transdanubia, in 1940, where she attended the local primary school. After the early death of her first husband (1959) Imre Szűcs Nagy, she raised her daughter alone and found consolation in religious life and in reading the Bible. She remarried in 1965 and raised three children with her husband while nursing and caring her sick mother, later her father and an old relative of hers widowed Mrs Horváth. For her unselfish work she was respected by the village community and everybody considered her as an example.
