SUMMARY RÉKA JAKAB Archivism in the Transdanubian District: The records of the Calvinist Diocese in Veszprém during the 19th century The problem of archivism within the Hungarian Calvinist Church accompanied the whole history of Reformation, but an organized provision for the records was only begun during the 18—19th centuries. A decision was brought by the synod of the Transdanubian Calvinist District in 1765 to establish their archives and the arrangement of the records stored there. The documents of the Transdanubian District were handled by the existing bishop, whereas those of the Calvinist Diocese of Veszprém were administered and protected by the dean, who handed them over to his successor. Up until the end of the 19th century neither of these archives had a constant seat. This paper highlights two periods of the institutionalization of the two archives: archivists were nominated to run the archives of the district and the diocese, then the documents were stored at a permanent centre. The paper presents the process of the birth and the consolidation of the archives on the basis of 19th century minutes and documents of the synods of the district and the diocese together with the treasury account - books, foundation and other records through a simultaneous introduction of the character and the system of the documents stored there. 206 Acta Papensia I (2001) 3-4.
