capacity. We have not been able to take over the documents of the district offices due to similar causes, most of these documents got into archive only after the beginning of the 1970s. It occurs even in the case ot district councils that part of their documents are still stored in the archive of the local government currently functioning at the onetime location. Since the documents of the above organizations got into archives only, their organizing could not be carried out completely but it does not influence research work because we have kept their original archive order after they had been brought in. Regarding document collection the situation is similar to the case of the settlement councils. Not even the corporation reports made until 1990 arrived in the archives are complete except in some cases. We expect some improvements in the following years regarding our storage places, and according to our plans, we will be able to store the documents ot long lasting value of the council era of 1950-1990 at one location and as an integral whole within a tew years. MAIN ARGIIIVE UNII XXIV - REGIONAL INSTITUTIONS OH PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION Only documents of some central police stations, fire depart ments, sett lement taxation offices, customs and excise guard sections, land registries, real estate business committees, radio stations, post offices, procurement agencies, free cultural inspectors and adult education centres of the newly formed regional professional institutions had got into archive since 1945. Besides the above there are also the documents of local offices of public supply and procurement offices, furthermore public-health stations (KOJAL) stored in this archive. These archives are relatively less researched, which is only partly due to their incomplete condition and the lack of their aid. MAIN ARCHIVE UNIT XXV - REGIONAL INSTITUTIONS OE JURISDICTION The documents of courts of law and public prosecutor's offices created after 1945, or 1950 belong into this main archive unit. From the Pest County Court there had been documents arriving in 1981 inclusive in the volume of 91 linear meters. Ehe reference books belong to the preserved criminal and civil records; therefore looking for individual cases is made easy aided by them. The documents of the district courts had been taken over since 1945 into this main archive unit, most of them up to 1969 inclusively. Their total volume is 800 linear meters. Most of their reference books were preserved, this way helping the research work. Regarding the public prosecutor's offices there arc the documents of the Pest County Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office (Pest Vicinity Otficc of Prosecution till 1950, Pest County Office of Prosecution till 1956) had originated from 1945, are stored here in the original archival order. According to this the following materials can be found within the archive: presidential, criminal, general supervision, assorted cases, punitive list, public prosecutor's investigation, civil cases, criminal court, appellate court, investigation-supervision, juvenile 198
