Seventeen thousand meters of historical source/Introduction of the main archives

Council (between 1924 and 1949). The cases of the villages on the area of competence (audits, registers, statements of the wine areas, lists of owners, etc.) can be searched in alphabetical order. A relatively detailed storehouse list helps the orientation regarding the documents. From water management (water utilising, flood management, embankments, waterworks, drinking water) associations only archive unit fragments came to the safekeeping of our archives. Three regional tourist trade - regional development committees and their headquarters were operating in Pest County and Budapest: between 1957 and 1980 the Danube Bend Syndicate (Budapest), between 1969 and 1980 the Ráckeve (Soroksár) Danube Syndicate and as a legal successor of these two between 1980 and 1999 the Central-Danube Vicinity Syndicate (in its later name: Central-Danube Vicinity Regional Tourist Trade Committee of the Ministry for Economics, Budapest). Their area of competence L covered parts of the capital's districts along the Danube and Ik certain settlements of Pest, Komárom-Esztergom, Nógrád and Bács-Kiskun counties. In all three archive units - beyond the documents relating to the operation of these organisations ­a great number of country planning and town developing plan documentation, maps, photos, films, newspaper cuts, and advertisements can be researched by those interested. Unique Russian and French printed documents of the Danube Committee as the only international organisation with Hungarian headquarters, from between 1949 and 1979, are preserved at our archives. They contain the records of committee meetings, information letters, documents related to the organisation and operation of the committee, furthermore the hydrological annual books of the Danube, information about the navigable parts of the river, statistic yearbooks and announcements about the navigable parts of the Danube, about the freight traffic, crossing-places, etc., and individual works. A Vári Ács Cái pecsétje (1767) Siegel der Zimmereizimft von Vác (1767) Stamp of the Carpenter Guild ofVác(1767) MAIN ARCHIVE UNIT X ­Principally the documents of cultural, economic, fire protection, reliever, military care, paladin sport, holiday and bath associations, female and male clubs, shooting parties can be found in this main archive unit. Only very few documents remained from these associations. Only a collection of the Cegléd associations and clubs make a considerable amount (almost 3 lm), where separated by divisions smaller or bigger archives of 19 associations and leagues can be found. Only from the Scientific Educational Association's Pest County Organization arrived a more substantial material to the Archives: records, reports, financial documents, altogether 15,13 linear meters, from the period between 1951 and 1975. Notwithstanding the small amount (0,05 lm) the documents of the Szentendre Painters' Association from 1928-1951 are worth to mention. The painters working in the picturesque 186
