It may be a further, efficient means of completing missing imprint data (place, date, printer resp. publisher) to publish the printer's resp. publisher's devices accompanied by appropriate indexes. A similar purpose could be served by a publication based on the same method but covering borders of title page so frequently used throughout the 16th century. A further publication in the same way covering individually cut printer's ornaments and illustrations should not only be very spectacular but it also promises to be extremely useful for the scholars of other disciplines (e.g. art historians). The compilation of these reference tools resp. their publication running parallel with the launching of indexes could be combined with the recording of all printed books in their integrity on microfiche. 151
