the two museum-type libraries in Keszthely and Zirc. A group of librarians of the National Széchényi Library visited four European countries to study recently built library buildings. The head of the Rare and Old Books Division spent several months in Berlin on the staff of the "Gesamtkatalog der Wiegendrucke". Other collaborators of our Library travelled to Czechoslovakia to collect bibliographical information in connection with old Hungarian books and periodicals. Three members of our Library had the chance to study acquisition work in foreign countries under the stipulations of cultural agreements with the German Democratic Republic and Poland. A group of 12 librarians visited Czechoslovak libraries. International Organizations and Conferences Our Library was represented at anniversary celebrations of the Deutsche Staatsbibliothek, Berlin, the Lenin State Library, Moscow, the Deutsche Bücherei, Leipzig, the Zentralinstitut für Bibliothekswesen, Berlin. A delegation of our Library participated in the conference on Reader Service held in Dresden. Budapest was the scene of an international conference sponsored by the first time by a United Nations agency: Unesco assisted in organizing the Conference on tin International Exchange of publications in Europe, which took place in the time from the 13th to 19th September 1960. The Exchange Service of our Library had a great part in the organizing work. The papers of the Conference were published in 1962. The Library was in close touch with the Libraries Division of UNESCO throughout the years under report, filled in various questionnaires, compiled the Hungarian chapters of Unesco publications, popularized Unesco's activity pertaining to library matters, concluded a contract with a view to obtaining financial assistance for the publishing of the second volume of the Hungarian Bibliography of Bibliographies, etc. The Music Division of our Library continued to compile the Hungarian contribution to the work in progress at the International Association of Music Libraries. The National Széchényi Library maintained its membership in ALA, ASLIB, and through the Hungarian Association of Librarians, kept in touch with IFLA. 121
