Buhl, P. N.: Platygastridae (Hymenoptera) from Mongolia

characterised, variable taxa with most often unknown bionomics such as platygastrids. All the already described species recorded below (or their very close relatives) are well known from NW Europe, except Pyrgaspis haloxylonomyiae KOZLOV, 1967 and Anirama marikovskii (KOZLOV, 1967) described from Kazakhstan, and Synopeas dentiscutellaris (SZABÓ, 1979) described from Mongolia. The platygastrid fauna of Mongolia was hitherto virtually unknown apart from the total of 11 species recorded by KOZLOV (1972,1974,1975a, 1975b) and SZABÓ (1979). All material is deposited in the Department of Zoology, Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, Hungary. Amblyaspis belus (WALKER, 1835) Material examined- 1 female, Central aimak, Ulan-Baator, Nucht in Bogdo ul, 1600-1700 m, 22.VII-27.VIH. 1965; 1 female, Central aimak, 11 km S of pass Zosijn davaa, 90 km S of Ulan-Baator, 1650 m, 7.VI. 1967; 1 male, Centra] aimak, Tosgoni ovoo, 10 km N of Ulan-Baator, 1700-1900 m, 23-24.VII.1967; 1 female, Bulgan aimak, between Somon Chischig-Ondör and Somon Orchon, 23 km NNE of Somon Chischig-Öndör, 1390 m, 15.VI-23.VII. 1968; 1 female, Chövsgöl aimak, Alag Mort, 42 km NE of pass Chaldzan Sogotyn davaa, at river Tesijn gol, 1900 m, 14. VII. 1968. Amblyaspis kaszabi sp. n. (Figs 1-5) Female - Length 1.2-1.5 mm. Black; antennae, mandibles, tegulae and legs dark brown; basal half of tibiae and segments 1-4 of tarsi lighter. Head from above (Fig. 1) 2.0 x as wide as long, as wide as mesosoma; occiput with a weak but complete carina, distinctly and slightly transversely reticulate-coriaceous; vertex and frons more superficially and not transversely reticulate. OOL:LOL = 5:3. Head in frontal view almost round, hardly wider than high (20:19); antenna (Fig. 2) with Al almost as long as height of head (18:19). Mesosoma 1.5 x as long as wide, 1.1 x as high as wide. Sides of pronotum weakly and slightly longitudinally reticulate all over, except almost smooth hind margin. Mesoscutum sparsely and evenly hairy, finely and uniformly reticulate-coriaceous, without trace of notauli; hind margin medially with a broad, dark, smooth plate just overreaching anterior margin of scutellum, laterally with numerous long hairs. Mesopleuron smooth. Scutellum (Fig. 3) densely hairy, posteriorly ending in a distinct, dark projection. Metapleuron with pilosity all over. Propodeal carinae dark, almost straight, anteriorly fused. Fore wing as long or almost as long as body, 2.7 x as long as wide, faintly brownish, with dense microtrichia; marginal cilia slightly more than 0.1 width of wing. Hind wing 7.6 x as long as wide; marginal cilia 0.5 width of wing. Metasoma (Fig. 4) very slightly longer to 1.2 x as long as head and mesosoma combined, 1.1 x as wide as mesosoma. Tl with two weak longitudinal keels rather close together, smooth and bare between them, densely pubescent laterally. T2 smooth, with hairy basal foveae. T3-T6 reticulate-coriaceous all over, with a few superficially implanted hairs.
