Its distribution extends from China to northern Vietnam and northern Thailand. Nomura (1974: 112) misidentified Autoserica hongkongica BRENSKE. The true Autoserica hongkongica BRENSKE belongs to the group of Autoserica castanea ARROW, 1913, which is characterized by having a very long tubular phallobasis.
