Skuhravá, M. ; Skuhravý, V.: Gall midges (Diptera: Cecidomyidae) of Hungary

Results of researches in 1890-1979 In the period of 1890-1979 including nearly 90 years, when the first paper of SZÉPLIGETI (1890) appeared, to the last paper written by AMBRUS (1979), about 20 researchers contributed in their 70 papers to the knowledge of gall midge species occurring in the present territory of Hungary. Based on results of these researchers, the fauna of gall midges included 310 species. Sixteen gall midge species which were reported by several authors as members of Hungarian fauna were excluded from the list. The following 14 species were found in some of adjacent countries and do not belong to the territory of present-day Hungary: Asphondylia gennadii (MARCHAL, 1904): listed in the papers of ERDŐS 1960) and AMBRUS (1963) is without locality: no evidence about occurrence in the territory of Hungary. Asphondylia rosmarini KIEFFER, 1896: no locality was given (BÁLÁS 1941). Contarinia helianthemi (HARDY, 1850: found in the Belanské Tatry Mts (Slovak Republic) (BÁLÁS 1941). Dasineura halimii (TAVARES, 1902): no locality was given (MOESZ 1938: AMBRUS 1963)). Dasineura oleae (F. Low, 1885): found in Croatia (BÁLÁS 1940, 1941). Dasineura phyteutnatis (F. Low, 1 885): found at Rokytnice (Czech Republic) and in Vysoké Tatry Mts (Slovak Republic). Dasineura pulvini (KlEFFER, 1891): found atTurda (Rumania) and in Croatia (BÁLÁS 1941). Dasineura turionum (KIEFFER, 1904): found in Croatia (BÁLÁS 1941). Guignonia potentillae KIEFFER, 1912: found at Rimavská Sobota (Slovak Republic) (BÁLÁS 1941, AMBRUS 1963). ^Harmandia crwnenalis KIEFFER": nomen nudum (BÁLÁS 1940, 1941: AMBRUS 1957, 1960, 1961, 1962). Jaapiella alpina (F. Low, 1885): found at localities in the Vysoké Tatry Mts (Slovak Republic) (BÁLÁS 1941). Rhopalomyia kiefferi TROTTER, 1900: found in Croatia (BALÁS 1941). Wachtliella ericina (F. Low, 1885): found in Croatia (BALÁS 1941). Wachtliella riparia (WlNNERTZ, 1853): found in Slovak Republic and Rumania (BÁLÁS 1941). Two other species, viz. Dasineura astericola (KlEFFER, 1909) (correctly: Dasineura procera (RÜBSAAMEN, 1914)) and Rhopalomyia luetkemuelleri THOMAS, 1893 (Alpine species occurring at altitudes of 2700 m a. s. 1.), were excluded from this list because of misidentification. Results of investigations in 1988 and 1997 In 1988 we found at 19 localities in the Börzsöny Mts, in the Pilis Biosphere Reserve and surroundings galls of 150 gall midge species from which 22 are new to the fauna of Hungary. New records for Hungary are indicated by an asterisk before the species name. This number, 150 species, represents about one half of presently known fauna of Hungary. The highest number of gall midges found during one excursion at one
