WASS. var. pseudopratensis (= Psalliota pseudopratensis BOH.) lb - Differs from the type: cap snow-white, disc cream, later slightly ochre and more or less squamulose. Until now only on sandy soil. Flesh-discolouring other, in upper part of stem unchanging or turning more or less rusty ochre or reddish, in base more or less yellow. Cap 4-12 cm, first whitish, then cuticle broken up more or less brownish, hazel-brown, greyish brown, seldom ochre squamules-squames on whitish or light ground. Gills light- or vividly rosy. Stem 4-8 x 1-2 cm, fusiform, white, towards the base more or less yellowing when handled. Ring thin, sometimes vanishing. Spores 6-7.5(8) x 3.5-5 /um. Cheilocystidia clavate, 30-40 x 8-15 jam. ROMAGN., ESSETTE) G . sectio : Magici XXI. group: Geesterani Fruit body firm, heavy. Cap 9-15(20) cm, margin long involute, first cov­ered with whitish or pale brownish-pinkish, but soon darker pinkish brown to sordid vinaceous red-brown layer, which mostly breaking up into often large, usually pointed squames on whitish to pinkish or pinkish-brownish, sordid vinaceous underground, thick-fleshed. Gills long cream and then Isabella. Stem 6-18(25) x 2-4(6) cm, cylindrical with not or hardly en­larged base, upper part whitish to pinkish cream, downwards covered with volval layer coloured as the cap, usually breaking up into 1-3 zones. Ring absent. Flesh whitish, on cut-surface turning immediately chrome-yellow, then slowly changing vinaceous pink. Spores 6.7-8.3 x 4.8-5.6/um. Cheilo­cystidia numerous, in tufts, filiform to slenderly lageniform, more or less capitate, 50-85 x 3-10 jam. In planted frondose woods. BH.: 121 A. geesterani BAS et HEINEM.
