Stem (6)8-15 x 1-3 cm, cylindrical or clavate or gradually enlarged towards the base, whitish, yellowish white, almost naked. Ring double, on the underside later with a cog-wheel ornamentation. Cap 9-18(25) cm, whitish, yellowing when handled, floccoso-squamulose or squamulose, in the sun may brake up into coarse squames. Gills pale flesh colour or rosy. Stem 8-10 x 2-4 cm, more or less enlarged towards the base or clavate, white, under the ring floccose-squamulose
