7 6 L. Tóth question that the absence of suitable habitats much hamper the occurrences of many (especially stenoceic, psychrophilous , alpine) species. According to this zoogeographical status, I think that the present provisional check-list has to contain all stoneflies from the Carpathian Basin, each species having a combination of letters referring to the present-day countries. The material of the recent check-list based mainly on adult specimens deposited in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum was mostly determined by J. AUBERT, W. JOOST, L. TÚTH and S. ÚJHELYI. The richest Hungarian Plecoptera material was determined by W. JOOST in the years of 1974-75, but his data are unpublished, as far as I know. The old Hungarian literary records were also incorporated. I have adopted in the present check-list ILLIES' (1966) and ZWICK's (197B) world catalogues with respect to classification and taxonomy.
