Tóth, T.: On the frequency of shovel-shaped incisors in Hungarians

above the two other forms (2 and ij. runner the unequal geographical distribution of the first two forms (10 and 1) was established. In the present paper the local contingents have been summarized for evaluating the specificities manifesting themselves rather on the.level of the nine ethnogeographical groups (Tables 1 and 2). It was found that in the case of the upper medial incisors any lingual surface representing forms 0 and 1 was in preponderant majority above the two other forms (2 and 3) (Table 1). It could be stated further that the two forms 0 and 1 are present in nearly equal proportion in the four regional groups (Table 1). It must be stressed further that form 2 was in preponderant majority above form 3 in all of the studied nine regional groups (Table 1). The last mentioned fact supports that the Mongoloid component has only an insignificant proportion in the studied Hungarian male population. It is beyond doubt that the Hungarian male population is characterized by the clearly expressed peculiarities of the Europoid racial stock, i.e. upper medial incisors have primarily the first two forms (0 and 1) (Tables 1 and 3). Concerning the upper lateral incisors the frequency of each from the four odontoscopical traits generally has a similar distribution (Table 2). The distribution of forms 0 and 1 proved to be similar in four out of the nine studied ethnogeographical groups, whereas form 2 appears often with a higher frequency on the lateral incisor than on the medial on (Tables 1 and 2). This may be the reason why we can find a significant difference between the two Fig. 1.
