row rugose, not crenulated. Mesosoma polished, pronotum rugulo-striate . 5ternaulix distinct, uneven. Propodeum areolated with distinct carination (Fig. 23), upper or horizontal pair of areolae smooth to just uneven behind, rest of areolae uneven to rugulose. - Legs usual in size. Hind femur 4.37 times as long as broad at its hind third. Hind tibia and tarsus equal in length. Hind tibia (Fig. 24) with erect and long hairs, length of hairs on hind part of tibia fairly equal with apical breadth of tibia. Fore winq somewhat shorter than boriv. Pterostigma (Fig. 25) 4.54 times along metacarpal vein as long as pterostigma; r_l as long as width of pterostigma and r_2 1.4 times as long as r_l, r_3_ 264 times as long as r_2 and reaching tip of wing; cuqul 1.75 times as long as r_2, n. rec. postfurcal. reaching tip of wing; cuqul 1.75 times as iong as r_2_, n . rec . postfurcal. Metasoma about as long as head and mesosoma together. First tergite (Fig. 26) somewhat shorter than broad at hind, i.e. 1.1 times broader behind than long medially, from its base to spiracle distinctly, beyond spiracle moderately broadening; scutum rugose with a few strong rugae, laterally crenulo-rugose. Further tergites weakly sclerotized. Ovipositor sheath in lateral view as long as hind tarsal segments 1-3. Ground colour of body light brownish yellow. Tip of mandible and ocellar field black. Palpi and tegula pale yellow. First tergite laterally blackish, behind brownish. Ovipositor sheath basally yellow, posteriorly darkening brown. Wings subhyaline, along n . bas . and r_l brownish, pterostigma pale yellow and its distal half darkening brownish, veins light brownish to yellowish . Description of 12 o_ paratypes - Similar to holotype. Body 3-3.2 mm long. Head in dorsal view 1.8-1.9 times as broad as long. Antenna with 19-23 antennomeres (19: 1, 20: 3, 21: 2, 22: 4, 23: 1). Pterostigma 4.1-5 times, usually 4.5-5 times, as long as wide, r_l 1.3-1.4 times as long as width of pterostigma, cuqul 1.5-1.7 times as long as r 2 . First tergite 1.1-1.2 times as broad at hind as long medially. Description of 3 o* paratypes - Similar to females. Body 2.8-3.1 mm long. Antenna with 22-23 antennomeres, first flagellomere three times and penultimate flagellomere 2.6-3 times as long as broad. First tergite (Fig. 27) as long as broad at hind, somewhat less broadening beyond spiracle. Type material - Holotype o_ and 12 o_ + 3 cf paratypes: India, Kerala, Calicut, University Campus, ex Lamida moncusalis WALKER, October 1984 (food-plant of host: Mangifera indica) leg. et educ. Sh. A. GEORGE. Host: Lamida moncusalis WALKER (Lepidoptera, Pyralidae). Holotype (o ) and 15 paratypes (12 3 cfo 4 ) are deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest; Hym. Typ. Nos 7273 (holotype) and 72747288 (paratypes ). Etymology - The species name "lamidae" refers to the generic name of its host; gender feminine. The new species, Hormius lamidae sp . n., seems to stand nearest to H . orientális BELOKOBYLSKIJ, 1980 (USSR: Far East Maritime Territory) and H. mo- niliatus (NEES, 1812) (Palaearctic Region), their specific distinction is disclosed in the following key: 1 (6) Metasoma at most as long as head and mesosoma together, its form more or less oval. First tergite about as long as its hind width or somewhat longer. Fore margin of pronotum without a median excision. 2 (3) Head in dorsal view (Fig. 28) less transverse, 1.6-1.7 times as broad as long, eye about twice as long as temple, latter relatively less receded. Malar space as long as or somewhat longer than basal width of mandible. Propodeum rugose, roughly rugose, not areolated. Mesonotum between notaulices without a medio-longitudinal furrow. Head above usually more or less transversely rugo-rugulose , sometimes almost smooth to smooth (var. similis SZÉPLIGETI, 1B96) . 2-3 mm, usually 2.7-3 mm H. moniliatus (NEES, 1812) 3 (2) Head in dorsal view (Fig. 22) transverse, 1.75-1.9 times as broad as long, eye 2.3-2.8 times as long as temple, latter relatively more receded. Malar space always more or less shorter than basal width of mandible. Propodeum less rugose, areolated, its upper (or horizontal) pair
