FORRÓ: The occurrence of Moina salina Daday, 1888 (Cladocera) in a sodic pan in Hungary. — Annls hist.-nat. Mus. natn. hung. 1988 80: 47-49. Abstract — Moina salina DADAY, 1888 was collected in a highly sodic pan in Hungary. This species is new to the Hungarian fauna. It is a halobiont species with a wide range of salinity tolerance, but was not known to occur in sodic waters. The Hungarian locality is characterized by great salinity as well as high alkalinity. With 4 figures. During the last 15-20 years much new information has been gained on the occurrence of Moina salina in European saline waters. MARGARITORA (1971) was the first to record the species in Sardinia. It was found in several athalassohaline saline waters in Spain (ALONSO 1983), and NEGREA (1983, 1984) also reported its occurrence in many salt lakes in Romania; a Bulgarian population also was detected (FORRÓ 1985). Besides these, M. salina was reported from Anatolia (DUMONT 1981) and from the North Caucasus (SUKHANOVA 1971). Figs 1-4.
