SOME COMPARISONS AND PHYLOGENETIC CONCLUSIONS The first step of the present investigation was comparison and systematic identification of the RUD-77 find with the four fossil apes described from Rudabánya. The taxon Pliopithecus her nyaki KRETZOI, as a form that is different in every aspects, could be immediately excluded from the identification. KRETZOI (1974,1975,1976 a, b) consequently classified the "smaller" Rudapithecus and the "larger" Bodvapithccus in two size categories. First KRETZOI (1974) mentioned the Bodvapithecus altipalatus as nomen nudum, than the description of the taxon was published in Nature (KRETZOI 1975). This read as follows: "Bodvapithecus altiFig. 7.
