Kamijo, K.: Eulophidae (Hymenoptera) from Korea, with description of two new species

I have seen two females reared from Phyllonorycter ringoniella MATSUMURA collected by T. UJIYE at Morioka, Japan. Distribution: Korea*, Japan, Europe. Sympiesis sandanis (WALKER) Eulophus sandanis WALKER, 1839, Monographia Chalciditum, 1: 130. Prov. Ryang-gang: 1 9 1 cf, Chann-Pay plateau, 24 km NW from Sam-zi-yan, road to Mt. Pektusan, 2000 m, 24. VII. 1975 (No. 281). I have seen one European female collected in Slovakia, which was kindly sent to me by DR. BOUCEK. The Korean female agrees well with the European, differing only in lacking a cloud below the stigma and in having all coxae concolorous with the thorax. Distribution: Korea*, Europe. Sympiesis sp. Prov. South Phenan: 1 9 > Bong-ha ri, on the river Te-dong, 45 km'E from Pyongyan, 23. V. 1970 (No. 19). This species is very near to S. flavopicta BOUCEK. DR. BOUÖEK kindly sent me one female paratype and two female specimens of flavopicta, from which the Korean specimen differs as follows: gaster shorter, as long as thorax plus head, 1.9 times as long as broad; fore wing with speculum larger, hairs on disc a little sparser, and without a fuscous cloud below stigma; vertex without a yellow band ; scutellum entirely greenish. Sympiesis japonica KAMIJO Sympiesis japonica KAMIJO, 1965, Ins. Mats. 28: 72. Prov. South Pyongan: 1 9 > De-sang san, 12 km NE from Pyongyan, 8. VIII. 1971 (No. 153). — Mt. Sudosan, Kyongsangpuk-do, 5 9, 9-14. VII. 1971 (K. YAMAGISHI). This species is variable in colour: in lighter specimens sides of thorax, scutellum mainly, and propodeum except median area, brown; all legs brownish yellow; gaster mainly dark brown dorsally. — The females of S. japonica differ from those of S. viridula (THOMSON) in having the scape hardly reaching the median ocellus, the first funicle segment about as long as the fourth segment, hairs on the mesoscutum and scutellum black, and the dorsellum usually depressed in lateral view. — This species is parasitic on various Tortricids on trees. Distribution: Korea*, Japan. Sympiesis ringoniellae KAMIJO Sympiesis ringoniellae KAMIJO, 1965, Ins. Mats., 28: 73. Prov. South Phenan: 1 Q, Bong-ha ri, on the river Tedong, 45 km E from Pyongyan, 23. V. 1970 (No. 19). In the present specimen, the fore wing has a fuscous cloud, the coxae are yellowish brown, and the hind femora and tibiae are darker apically. Distribution: Korea*, Japan. Sympiesis derogatae KAMIJO Sympiesis derogaiae KAMIJO, 1965, Ins. Mats., 28: 74. Prov. Gang-von: 1 9 1 of , district On-dzong, Kum-gang san, along Ok-ru dong, 250-300 m, 7. VIII. 1975 (No. 324). — Mt. Sudosan, Kyongsangpuk-do, 1 9, 29. V. 1970, 2 9, 1-4. VI. 1971, 49, 9-18. VII. 1971 (K. YAMAGISHI). The above specimens agree well with S. derogatae, except that the venation and the hairs on the disc of the fore wing are darker in the females. — There are two other female specimens collected in Prov. Gang-von (No. 324). They agree in most respects with S. derogatae, but the head is bronze and almost alutaceous (in typical specimens the head is greenish with bronzy reflections and relatively strongly sculptured), the eyes are separated by slightly less than their own height, the scutellum is
