P. Komáromy, Zs.: Scotiella species (Chlorophyceae) and their theoretical life-cycle

The establishments of this paper are based on literature data. To define the exact taxonomical position of the species and to discover their real life-cycle a thorough research and the examination of the different species in simultaneous cultures are needed. According to Table 1, some of the characteristics are common among the species, i.e. shape of chloroplasts, presence or absence of pyrenoid, and cell content, which are not specific features. I observed on Scotiella levicostata, that the cell organelle and the cytoplasm change during the life-cycle. These changes were characteristic in the partial desorganizational stage of the cells having been in unfavourable conditions. It would be most useful to study the structure of cell walls with an electron microscope. References BOURELLY, P. (1951): Notes sur quelques Chlorococcales. — Bull. Muséum, (2. sér.) 23: 673.
