5. Fenella arenariae sp. n. (Fig. 3. ) 9. Black. Head black with brown palpi and reddish mandibles, pubescence fuscous and sparse. Clypeus truncate in front, malar space practically wanting, surfaces smooth and shining. Front ocellus recieved in a semicircular depression. Triangular area below frons excavated, inverted guttiform in shape, lowermost part surrounded by a blunt elevation, bottom of this basin without distinct deep furrow, uppermost part of basin broken through towards front ocellus, thus, strongly elevated frons channelled connecting semicircular depression and triangular area. POL = OOL. Postocellar furrows separating off postocellar area sharp and distinct, and extending forward almost down to antennái sockets, thereby frons appearing even more convex. Antenna 12-jointed, black with semierect fuscous pubescence. — Thorax black and shining. Middle part of lateral lobes of mesonotum with some weak alutaceous surface sculpture. Wings dark imfumated, M strongly bending at its middle portion. — Legs black, only extreme apices of femora, tibiae and tarsi yellowish white. — Abdomen black, 1st tergite with a large membraneous blotch in the middle (median incision greatly expanded). Tergites with transversal surface sculpture. Sawsheath black, lateral setae straight, pointing rather outward. — Length: 2 mm; alar expanse: 5 mm. — çf unknown. Holotype female: "Naphegy Budaörs", "1977. VII. 9. Szőcs J.", "Potentilla arenaria" (on green label), "Holotypus 9 Fenella arenariae sp. n. det. L. ZOMBORI, 1977." — Paratypes females: "Szépligeti 32", "Budapest Nagysvábhegy Adalak 1898. V. 2, leg. SZÉPLIGETI". ; "Hungária BudaörsNaphegy"," 1978. VIT91eg. Szőcs", "exminePotentillaarenaria 1978. VII. 22 Szőcs J.", "Potentilla arenaria" (19), "1978. VII. 23 Szőcs J.", "Potentilla arenaria" (1 9) mines collected on 29. VI. 1978. Holo- and paratypes are deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Host plant: Potentilla arenaria BORKH. (Fig. 3). Larva: Head flattened, yellowish brown, sutures brown. Antenna 2-jointed, apical one papillate. Maxillary palp with 4, mandibular palp with 3 joints. First thoracic segment light brown as are thoracic legs; latter with 4 joints, terminal one with a large hooked claw. Second thoracic tergite yellowish white, sternite similarly coloured but with a large oval, medially situated light brown spot. Third tergite and sternite as second one. Abdominal legs appearing on segments 2-8. No anal leg present. Supra-anal region light brown with numerous dark brown protuberances, appearing granulate; in the middle with some spiniform protuberances almost as long as length of a spiracle. Length 2.5 mm. The new species belongs to the nigrita-group of species in the genus Fenella WESTW. and it is close to a recently described species from Korea: F. excavata ZOMBORI, 1978. But F. arenariae sp. n. differs from the latter by its construction of frontal and triangular areas, by the coloration of the hind legs, by its relatively greater length of hind basitarsus, by its more convex and less pubescent head, and by its minute size, apparently the smallest among the representatives of Fenella. Acknowledgement. — Herewith I should like to thank Mr. J. Szőcs (Budaörs), well-known specialist in microlepidoptera, who collected and reared the material. 6. Fenella catenata sp. n. 9. — Black. Head black, only palpi brown and mandibles reddish brown. Clypeus entire, malar space about half diameter of front ocellus. Antenna dark brown with semi-erect fuscous hairs; 3rd antennái joint much longer than 4th (ratio as 1.6 : 1). Front ocellus quite free-standing, frons elevated, triangular area below frons evenly convex with a shallow median depression, lowermost part surrounded by a blunt ridge ; median depression broadening towards front ocellus, thus rather cigarshaped. Surface shining, without distinct sculpture. Postocellar groove continuing in front as a shallow furrow only, thus, frons not appearing as much elevated. POL < OOL. — Thorax black with weak alutaceous surface sculpture on lateral lobes of mesonotum. — Wings brownish infuscate, vein M strongly bent at basal one-quarter, appearing almost angular, then almost entirely straight. —-Legs black, only apical quarter of femur, tibia and tarsus light brownish yellow. Hind basitarsus longer than following two joints together. — Abdomen black, shining with hardly visible surface sculpture. Lateral setae of sawsheath straight, short, enclosing about 45° with side of sawsheath. — Le n g t h : 3 mm ; alar expanse : 7 mm. — çf and host plant unknown.
