Tsuneki, K.: H. Sauter's Sphecidae from Formosa in the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Hymenoptera)
renées published up to that time and in such a case the preceding references are omitted from the list. As to the distribution, the species with the asterisked number(*) are endemic to Formosa and as to the common and well-known species the distribution records are omitted. Abbreviations used in the descriptions are the same as those usually employed by me. Figures are made by myself on the basis of numeral measurements. Before going further I wish to thank Dr. J. PAPP for his kindness in giving me a chance to examine these interesting and valuable specimens. All types are preserved in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Comments on the localities of the specimens The locality names used by H. SAUTER have once or twice been altered since the time of his collection, especially after World War II they were altered from Japanese to Chinese and nowadays the localities written by him on his labels and recorded by the inves-tigators of his material in their papers cannot be found on any of the Formosan maps, e. g. CHANG'S National Atlas of China, 1, Taiwan. In the following, therefore, their present names, as far as appear in the present paper, the Prefectures they belong, rough locations from the southern end of the Island represented with fractions, height above the sea level etc. are given in alphabetical order: Akau: City Pingtung, Pingtung Pref., 1/5, about 25 km east of Takao (now Kaohsiung), in the southwestern plain of the Island, with the Pingtung Park, a good collecting place even now.
