The samples were collected from the top 0-5 cm of soil with a soil borer, after the litter or excess of humus had been scraped aside. The pH of the soil samples was taken previously along with soil-analisis (KOVÁCS 1970, KOMÁROMY 1969). Each sample was moistened with glassdistilled water. The width of the filaments and the length of the cells were measured in enrichment and liquid cultures. To .the liquid cultures sterile Bolds'Basal Medium were added (BISCHOFF & BOLD 1961). The stock solution was prepared with 4 stock micronutrient solution (MILLIGER 1969) The inoculated flasks were than placed on shelves and illuminated by daylight. In each case 100 cells were measured and the data were statisticaly processed (KOMÁHOMY 1974). Localities of different terrestrial Chlorhormidium species in Hungary: Chlorhormidium nitens (HANSG.) KOM. — "Bagolykő" (in Mts. Mátra) on footpath. Tjjszentmargita, in algal-coat. Chlor hormidium, flaccidum (KÜTZ.) FOTT — Mátrafüred, on footpath. "Galyatető" (in Mts. Mátra) on bare soil. Párád, on litter. "Bagolykő" (in Mts. Mátra) on bare soil. "Nyesettvár" (in Mts. Mátra) on raw humus. Parádóhuta, on bare soil surrounding an electric pole. "Mt. Vár" (in Mts. Mátra) on footpath. Tjjszentmargita, on bare soil. Chlorhormidium dissectum (CHOD.) KOM. — "Nyesettvár" (in Mts. Mátra) on bare soil. "Bagolykő" (in Mts. Mátra) on bare soil. Párád, on footpath. Mátrafüred, on a big stone with clay. "Galyatető" (in Mts. Mátra) on footpath and bare soil. Ohat, on litter. Tjjszentmargita, on bare soil. Kunmadaras, on salt soil. Chlorhormidium crenulatum (KÜTZ.) KOM. —- Various localities in Mts. Mátra. Kunmadaras, on salt soil. Result and discussion The results of the algological examination of different soil types concern four terrestrial C hlorhormidium species. When FOTT (1960) corrected the name of Hormidium flaccidum KÜTZ., he did not do the same for other Hormidium species. As far as I am aware this correction has not been completed even today.
