Bottyán, O.: The sexual dimorphism of the human mandible

4. Torus mandibidaris The present author did not encounter torus mandibularis throughout the examination of the whole sample, thus, it indicates that it is very rare on Europoid skulls, on the other hand, torus palatínus is more frequent. In summing up the above morphoscopic data, perhaps it is only the rough surface of the apex geni in the environs of spina mentalis which shows some kind of sexual dimorphism. Summary In order to establish the sexual dimorphism of the mandible on the Hungarian sample, 17 morphometric and 4 morphoscopic characteristics were examined, the following features show the greatest (above 6%) sexual dimorphism in due course: 69, 70, 69/1, 66 and 70/3 absolute measurements. The difference of sexual dimorphism of 21 characteristics are by and large in accordance with the data of other authors. The capacity values of mandible indicate definite sexual dimorphism.
