The problem of Koeleria grandis (Hess.) em. et ampl. Domin var. stenoglumis Dom. K. DOMIN described this plant in his Monograph as the third variety of Koeleria grandis (BESS.) DOMIN. The type is in the Herbarium of the Botanical Institute of the University of Zurich: Koeleria cristata PERS. Polen, Lublin 24. VI. 1883. F. KARO. Schedula DOMINI: Koeleria polonica DÓM. var. stenoglumis m. Rev. Dr. K. DOMIN, Herbarium SCHINZ (Z) (DOMIN, 3). The exact identification and revision of this plant was rather easy, owing to the anatomical structure of the leaf epiderm. The anatomical picture wholly differs from and shows conspicuously deviating characters against the entire Series Grandis UJH., being identical with that of Koeleria cristata (L.) PERS. em. BORB., the diploid grade plant of the Series molles. Thereafter, the identification of the rest of the morphological features presents no problem (Pl. I. Fig. 5, Pl. IV. Fig. 3). Summary The present paper discusses the evolutionary problems of the European taxa of DOMIN'S subsectio Caespitosae verae tribus Cristatae, subtribus Robustae, and the subsectio Pseudorepentes. These taxa show strongly mesophytous characters and therefore similar habits, they are at the same time largely derivations : members of a higher ploidy grade of their series ; though they are indubitably of parallel descent, a satisfactory characterization is rather difficult. Attempts at clarification gave the following results : Of the varieties of Koeleria pyramidata species collectiva Subsp. I. K. pyramidata (LAM.) DOMIN, the cited specimens of 4. var. glaberrima DOMIN are not uniform, belonging partly to Koeleria mollis MANN, partly to Koeleria borbasii UJH. The taxon 8. var, rigidiuscula DOMTN= Koeleria mollis MANN var. rigidiuscula (DOM.) ÚJHELYI, comb. nova. The taxon 9. var. laza DOM. — Koeleria mollis MANN. The taxon Koeleria genevensis DOMIN is not a distinct species, but, according to our investigations, equals Koeleria mollis MANN var. genevensis (DOM.) ÚJHELYI. Similarly to the groupings Bulbosae DOM., or Geaspitosae DOM., the subsection Pseudorepentes DOMIN is not a taxonomic but an ecological assembly. Of these, Koeleria grandis (BESSER) em. et ampl. DOMIN harboured a series, namely the Series Grandes ÚJHELYI, ser. nova. Its members are: Koeleria polonica DOMIN, Koeleria besseri ÚJHELYI sp. nova. The taxon Koeleria grandis (BESS.)
